I am the bespectacled one who tends to sing tenor, but likes to sing lead from time to time to give the voice a rest and to make Steve sweat once in a while. I sing in other groups locally, one 'Spectrum' that raises funds for charities and 'Chanson', a chamber choir that sings formal concerts. Neither of the other groups identifies with Barbershop, so I really enjoy the contrast.

I have sung since the age of 11 and have 2 musical children, one of whom is planning to be an opera singer, currently at the RSAMD in Glasgow. I am the son of and nephew of professional musicians, so I know what poverty feels like!!

I used to be a blues pianist, but nobody listened and my guitar playing was not for third parties. It's amazing what a refuge Barbershop is, taking in all sorts of musical orphans. Fortunately I have a day job as an educational psychologist, which brings in the shekels, otherwise I would be on the street with an upturned hat.

Did you know that typing on a wordprocessor, relaxes the chords??
