Not many people write to me as I am the shy and introverted baritone. I never sing the tune because my colleagues tell me "That is the way in Barbershop" but I think they won't let me. I consequently supply the relatively tuneless line which introduces the warmth, colour and texture into the music. This, as all baritones know, is the most tonally complex line, in contrast to the lead (tune), tenor (roots and thirds) and bass (roots and fifths.) Not sure if they will let me print this!

My passion for Barbershop is surpassed only by my love for my golf clubs. Not sure if my wife will let me print this. I'm told golf isn't exactly a matter of life of death - I say "no, it's much more important than that." I've been involved in music making, mostly singing, from primary school; but the good fellowship which accompanies Barbershop makes it unique.

Like the others, I too have two children, both enthusiastic music makers, one studying at University. They scoff at my barbershopping. This is harsh, they have much to learn where the recognition of true talent resides.
